OUR STORY

Grand opening of Campos Foods new location in 1959

Art Campos "El Señor Campos" began with a dream of being in business in 1944, while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War 11. In 1947 he partnered with his brother Ray Campos and they manufactured corn-chips for Frito Lay in Stockton, CA. However, Frito Lay moved to Los Angeles and they were forced out of business.

One day he was selling his equipment when a lady told he he should start making tortillas. You use the same equipment. "I don't know how to make tortillas", Art told her. "I will show you how", she said.

The next week Art made fourteen dozen tortillas and took them to the local Save Mart grocery store. "Art asked the manager if they could sell them? "Sure, we will give it a try", the manager said.

The very next day Art stopped by and asked the manager how sales were? "Great", bring more tomorrow". Thus, Campos Foods and Senor Campos restaurants would become the center pieces of his legacy!

In 1964, Art started "Senor Campos restaurants and the salsa we offer today is the exact recipe. This is my way to honor him, so enjoy!
